Phone-Internet outage update, Friday, Dec. 28, 1:00PM: CenturyLink long-distance and internet service has been restored to most places in Sublette County. Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reports their services and 911 functions are all operating normally. For anyone who still has 911 or long-distance calling disruption using a landline, it is recommended to try calling using a cell phone. This was an outage that affected many locations nationwide. The cause and extent has not been announced. The FCC is investigating. For those who have an imperative need for full-time phone or internet services, this was a good exercise to show possible needs for independent redundancy backup systems if a primary provider should go down (which they all do at some time or another).
Phone-Internet outage update, Friday, Dec. 28, 8:00AM: CenturyLink is still working on fixing the outage problems. Some customers in other states reporting service restored. The company posts updates on their Facebook page and there is a service status map on downdetector.com website. Sublette County appears to still be down as of the time of this report. No word as to the cause of the outage which started yesterday morning or number of customers impacted.
Dec. 27, 2018, 9:30PM: Apparently the CenturyLink outage is impacting cities nation-wide. CenturyLink Facebook page update: ‘CenturyLink engineers and technicians have identified a network element that was impacting customer services and are addressing the issue in order to fully restore services. We estimate that services will be fully restored within four hours. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused our customers.’
WyoLottery posted an announcement on their website: ‘December 27, 2018 Cowboy Draw & Open Payments Down. Please be advised that due to a major national network outage, we are unable to provide the Cowboy Draw winning numbers or open payments for today’s draw. As soon as the network is restored, we will announce the winning number and open payments.’
