After three weeks of political back and forth tangling which caused a shutdown of nonessential services of the Federal government for 35 days, on Friday, January 25th President Donald Trump agreed to sign a continuing resolution that will reopen the federal government through February 15th. Congress agreed on a bill last week to provide back pay for furloughed federal workers, both for this latest closure as well as any future government shutdowns to come. Government agencies are now gearing back up to resume normal operations and addressing the work backlog that built up during the furlough period.

On Twitter, President Trump said the deal to temporarily reopen government was "in no way a concession" on building the southern border wall. "I wish people would read or listen to my words on the Border Wall. This was in no way a concession. It was taking care of millions of people who were getting badly hurt by the Shutdown with the understanding that in 21 days, if no deal is done, it’s off to the races!"
