Wyoming Legislature update – Feb. 26, 2019
by Albert Sommers, House District #20 Representative
February 26, 2019
2/26/2019 Hello Sublette County,
This is Albert Sommers in Cheyenne on Tuesday the 26th. Today represented the second to last day of the 2019 Legislative Session, but that is not a certainty. We spent most of the day considering concurrences to Senate Amendments and joint conference committee compromises. The Governor also had several bill signings, including my bill HB 247 - Broadband development program-amendments.
Additionally, the Governor submitted his line item vetoes of HB 1 – General Government Appropriations this afternoon. We will take up consideration of those vetoes tomorrow.
The House considered 7 bills on 3rd reading, all of which passed the House. A few interesting bills included these I supported: SF 149 – Capitol Complex Oversight SF 162 - State funded capital construction. This bill funds state capital construction projects that include a roof for the prison, several community college projects, and a few issues related to the capitol renovation. SF 104 – Wyoming Chancery Court. This bill creates a court for business matters, and has been brought to adjudicate these cases faster. SF0118 - Tax liability mineral production. An amendment was brought to this bill that will help solve the lien and bankruptcy issues for local government, as it relates to mineral liens.
Another 8 bills were laid back for consideration tomorrow.
