Wyoming Legislature update Feb. 19, 2019

Hello Sublette County,
This is Albert Sommers in Cheyenne on Tuesday the 19th. Today kicked off the 7th week of the 2019 General Session. We heard from U.S. Senator John Barrasso as he presented a copy of the Congressional Record recognizing the 150th Anniversary of Womens Suffrage in Wyoming. It is always beneficial to hear from our federal representatives. We spent much of the day voting on concurrences from the Senate, Joint Conference Committees and the final supplemental budget.
With the only bill considered last Friday on General File failing, no bills were up for consideration on 2nd reading in the House.
The House passed 11 bills on 3rd reading, including these bills I supported:
SF 41 County Fair Endowments
SF 60 - Protection of children-child endangerment amendments
SF 67 Hospital cost study
SF 68 Meat from harvested livestock or poultry
SF 72 Sexual assault biological evidence reporting
SF77 2019 large project funding. This was an appropriation bill from the interest off of the Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust Fund. Several projects were based in Sublette County, including conservation easements and cheatgrass control.
SF 85 Wyoming Medicaid Fraud Control Act
Given the time spent on the final supplemental budget and a great deal of debate on third reading bills, we did not consider any bills on General File. Tomorrow will be a full day of general file bills in an effort to get legislation worthy of debate from the Senate considered by the House before we adjourn for the session next week.
