Representatives from Union, the Town of Pinedale, Sublette County Commissioners, the Wyoming Business Council, and the State of Wyoming were on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony and public meeting in Pinedale for the new Union fiber network. The ceremony was held at 9AM on Thursday, June 27th at the Burger Barn just south of Pinedale on US 191. The new cable will be laid in the highway right-of-way.
The project has been more than four years in the making. Union will be constructing fiber lines underground through Sublette, Sweetwater, and Lincoln counties to connect LaBarge, Marbleton, Big Piney, Pinedale, Farson, and Eden to the network. When each community is connected to the regional fiber network, Union will then begin connecting the residences and businesses in the community to its fiber-fed broadband internet service.
The higher capacity, faster internet service is expected to benefit rural Wyoming community economic development, education, businesses, medicine telecommunications, citizen health and safety, and more.
Union has launched an online tool to assist local governments, community organizations, interested citizens, and businesses to learn more about Union's plan to build the fastest, most reliable broadband internet service to rural Wyoming communities in Sublette, Sweetwater, and Lincoln counties.
To find out more about where the advanced broadband services will be located, visit broadband.unionwireless.com and search by address. Those interested will have the option to pre-register and indicate that they want broadband when it becomes available. Union will provide interested parties with information and updates on the progress of its fiber construction project.
