by Pinedale Online! November 19, 2019 Skywatchers may get a treat on Thursday, November 21st if the upcoming alpha Monocerotid meteor shower becomes more active than expected and turns into a rare event known as a meteor storm. If that occurs, stargazers could see several meteors per second during the event. The burst of activity will be short lived, only lasting perhaps an hour, so enthusiasts will need to know when and where to watch to see it. Meteor Scientists with the American Meteor Society say there is no guarantee the storm outburst will occur, but they forecast the activity is expected to reach its climax around 11:50 p.m. EST on Nov. 21st.
