Wyoming School closure extended through at least April 17
by Sublette County School District #1
March 27, 2020
Dear SCSD 1 Families and Staff: Governor Gordon has extended the closure of all Wyoming schools through at least April 17, 2020.
In response to guidance from the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE), Sublette County School District 1 (SCSD1) has released an Adapted Learning Plan that addresses how the district will provide remote learning opportunities to students should the current closure extend beyond April 3rd. This plan has been sent directly to our families.
It is also available on the district website at www.sub1.org. The plan can be accessed on the front page of the website in a tile entitled "SCSD 1 Adapted Learning Plan"
The Adapted Learning plan is designed to provide students with meaningful instruction that aligns with the mission and vision of the Sublette County School District 1 while schools are closed to students in response to the pandemic.
While this format can never truly replace in-person interactions with a classroom teacher, it is our intent to maximize the multitude of resources within our learning community to maintain educational continuity and to meet state guidelines until schools return to in-person instruction.
The health and welfare of our students and staff continue to remain our top priority. Please know that this plan is likely to evolve over time as we work through the process of implementing the plan and get more guidance from the Wyoming Department of Education and health officials. It’s meant to be adaptable.
We are currently in the process of identifying families who wish to receive instructional materials in a hard copy format. Once we have collected this information, we will be releasing information regarding how those materials will be delivered to families, including distribution points and route times. We intend to release that information next week and will communicate it through multiple channels.
While we know it is impossible to answer every question you might have, we hope that this plan will give our families a good understanding of what the educational delivery system will look like should our schools remain closed to students for an extended period of time. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Jay Harnack, Superintendent Sublette County School District 1
