Sublette County School District #1 sent out new information on the status of school for the remaining of the 2019-2020 year. According to new public health orders issued by the Governor’s office, "All K-12 schools shall not hold in-person classes until no sooner than May 18, 2020, unless an exception is granted," under variance orders. under paragraph 11 or a Countywide Variance Order is granted under paragraph 12. Staff and teachers may continue to work in school buildings to facilitate adaptive learning/instruction or to complete administrative tasks as directed by school superintendents. Food may still be prepared to be made available to those in need, as directed by school superintendents.

As a result of discussion at a special meeting of the SCSD 1 Board of Trustees on Monday evening with Sublette County Health Officer Dr. Brendan Fitzsimmons, Sublette County School District #1 has decided to continue with their Adapted Learning Plan for the remainder of the year. School District Superintendent, Jay Harnack said they would be seeking an exemption from the County Health Officer for limited in-person instruction for students who may need additional support.

The request for an exemption requires approval by the SCSD 1 Board of Trustees, the Sublette County Health Official, and the Wyoming Department of Education. If approved, the school district will share the exemption, the specifics of the protocols required, and the anticipated start date for in-person instruction.

The school district said it is also important to remember public health order Number 2 limiting public gatherings to 10 persons or fewer has been extended through May 15.

"Should Public Health Orders be issued that change the requirements for public schools after May 18th, SCSD 1 will reevaluate our existing plan in relation to the revisions," Harnack said.
