SCSD 1 reviewing options for exemptions to current Adaptive Learning Plan
by Sublette County School District #1
April 23, 2020
Earlier today (Thursday, April 23), Governor Gordon and State Superintendent of Public Instruction announced that Wyoming would soon be issuing modified statewide public health orders. His statement noted that "These modified orders will be released next week and will allow county health officers to submit requests for countywide variances from those orders if the public health conditions in the county warrant the change." According to State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow, this includes the potential for school districts to request specific exemptions for their currently approved adapted learning plan to meet the needs of special populations. The current adaptive learning plan for Sublette County School District 1 (SCSD 1) was approved by the Wyoming Department of Education on March 31st. When the specifics of the new statewide orders are made available, SCSD 1 will work with Dr. Brendan Fitzsimmons, the Sublette County Health Official, to explore which exemptions may be appropriate and make them publicly available as soon as possible. Any proposed exemptions to the current learning plan will require approval by Dr. Fitzsimmons, the SCSD1 Board of Trustees, and the Wyoming Department of Education, and will be subject to the availability of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and necessary screening equipment.
