The Sublette County COVID-19 Team held another update on Wednesday, April 22nd.

The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) reports that the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Wyoming, with 326 confirmed COVID-19 cases statewide, 121 probable cases, and 6 deaths. According to WDH, there have been 7,567 tests completed in Wyoming, with 55 tests from Sublette County. There are currently 23 people hospitalized in Wyoming due to COVID-19. Statewide public health orders remain in place through April 30, and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon is expected to announce Wyoming’s plans for the next steps later this week.

Highlights: - Sublette County has no current laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 at this time. - The two Clinics are still screening patients at the doors. Tele-health and Zoom appointments are available. Don’t delay in calling to talk to your provider if you have questions or aren’t feeling well. - Health officials are working to try and get a coronavirus rapid test, but not available here yet. Reliable antibody tests are probably 2-8 weeks away. - Will start accepting applications for exemptions to State Order #3 on Friday. Businesses will be able to get the form online. Dr. Fitzsimmons recommends businesses who are applying for exemptions be "meticulous" in the descriptions of their safety operations plans. They will do their best to get through the applications over the weekend. Want to plans to be ready so they can go into effect on May 1st, if the state health orders are allowed to expire on April 30th. - Health officials expect there will be a little bit of a bump in cases as we move through each of the recovery phases. Goal is for health officials to not be overwhelmed and have a pace to be able to take care of the people who do become sick as things loosen up. - There is no vaccine for the coronavirus yet. Flu shots will be available later in the year getting ready for flu season next fall. - Mental health professionals recommend people who are staying at home pay attention to the state of their own health. If you notice excessive sleeping, eating, skin breakouts, anger issues, could be a reaction to stress and the changes to lifestyle due to the social distancing restrictions and economic situation. Some helpful tips are to create a regular daily schedule for yourself for waking and bedtime; put time limits on certain things like internet use, checking news, sleeping, shopping; consult a counselor if you feel you need more help. - New money becoming available for paycheck protection program. Businesses interested in this should watch reports for release dates so they apply as quickly as possible.
