Wyoming Shrine Bowl 2020 cancelled
April 8, 2020
Organizers of the annual Wyoming Shrine Bowl announced the 2020 game has been cancelled. It was scheduled to be played on Saturday, June 13th in Casper, Wyoming. The post season high school football game showcases the best of the best players in all of Wyoming’s footballs conferences. The players and coaches are all-stars.
The annual game is a fundraiser for Shriner’s Hospitals and to help make the public aware of the expert orthopedic and burn care available free of charge at Shriners Salt Lake Childrens Hospital or the other 21 Shriners Hospitals for Children. The Wyoming players go on a pre-game visit to the Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, and visit with patients, where they take to heart the game’s slogan, "Strong legs run so that weak legs might walk."
The game is also a last opportunity for all-star high school football athletes to be seen by scouts. News of the cancellation of the game is especially tough for Sublette County’s Teagan Elliott from Big Piney High School who was on the South Roster. Bryan Pluid and Aiden Montoya, both from Big Piney High, were to be game alternates on the South Team.
The state is divided into North and South teams that are made up of the following schools:
North Team: Big Horn, Buffalo, Burlington, Campbell County, Cody, Dubois, Greybull, Hot Springs County, Hulett, Jackson Hole, Kelly Walsh, Lander Valley, Lovell, Meeteetsee, Midwest, Moorcroft, Natrona County, Newcastle, Powell, Riverside, Riverton, Rocky Mountain, Sheridan, Shoshoni, Sundance, Ten Sleep, Tongue River, Upton, Wind River, Worland, Wright, Wyoming Indian, Normative Services, Kaycee.
