Airport Grants CARES Act COVID-19 airport funding

Under the federal government’s CARES Act signed into law by President Trump on March 27th, nearly $10 billion in funds is being awarded in economic relief in response to the COVID=19 pandemic.

The CARES Act stands for Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act. The money is to go towards the prevention of, preparation for, and response to the pandemic. The new funds are for all airports that are part of the national airport system. This includes all commercial service airports, all reliever airports and some public-owned general aviation airports.

Miley Memorial Field, the Big Piney airport, got $20,000 in grant money. Pinedale’s Ralph Wenz Field was awarded $30,000. Jackson Hole Airport received $16,494,770 in grant money. Kemmemer’s Municipal airport got $20,000. Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody got $18,017,498. Rock Springs’ Southwest Wyoming Regional airport got $1,094,717.
