Governor Gordon talks about Wyoming moving forward
More loosening of restrictions as of May 8th

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon held a media briefing on Thursday, May 7th, to talk about plans moving forward for Wyoming and what the next phase of transition looks like when the public health orders expire. Highlights:
- The statewide supply of personal protection equipment (PPE) has improved considerably across the state.
- 13 counties have received county-wide variances to the current public health orders. Teton County remains the only county with more restrictive variances from the state orders.
- Working on variances for outdoor and indoor dining and holding church services.
- On Friday, May 8th, the 14-day quarantine directive for those coming into the state will expire. Those coming into Wyoming from out of area do not need to self-quarantine. The Governor asks people to still be vigilant. Those who are in regular contact with vulnerable populations should be particularly vigilant about their health.
- Wyoming Game & Fish will resume the sale of 1 and 5 day non-resident fishing licenses starting Saturday, May 9th.
- The current public health orders will expire on Friday, May 15th.
- They have already relaxed the restrictions on personal services, hair salons, cosmetology, and others.
- Anticipate that bars and restaurants will soon be able to reopen to indoor table service. This will come with restrictions. Businesses will need to follow guidelines on spacing between tables, staff to wear face coverings, social distancing requirements, increased sanitation. No business wants to be the source of a major new COVID-19 outbreak.
- On Order #2, looking at churches, movie theaters, and other group gathering places. They will give an update on these early next week.
- In order to implement and expand these orders, need the cooperation of the people of Wyoming. People need to continue to be vigilant. This is the way to reactivate our economy and move forward.
- Wyoming State Parks are only open for camping to Wyoming residents this summer. All out-of-state reservations for camping on Wyoming State Parks are being cancelled for 2020 season. They are ending access by out-of-state campers. State Parks will reevaluate the system at the end of the season to determine future of program.
- The State is working with the Forest Service, BLM and Park Service on reopening those facilities before the end of the month. Stay tuned for details.
- There is increased testing capability now. If someone feels sick, they have the capability of testing more people for COVID-19 now.
- As things open up, people still encouraged to work from home as much as possible.
- People in the higher risk groups should continue to limit their contact with other people as much as possible, including anyone with any kind of health issue.
- Face coverings are still being recommended for situations where social distancing cannot be practiced.
- The Governor signed a proclamation calling for a Special Session of the Wyoming Legislature on May 15th. Topics to be discussed center around the large funding from the federal government from the CARES Act. There are restrictions on how the money can be spent and a time deadline. The Governor would like the Legislature to come up with ways to help businesses and individuals negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Each person has individual responsibility for their actions as we move forward. Work from home still if you can. If you are sick, don’t go to work, and don’t engage with others. Continue to use good judgement because your actions can impact others.
