Sublette BOCES offers summer classes
July 16, 2020
With the pandemic closures, class offerings were pared this spring, but Sublette BOCES has a number of new offerings available for the remainder of the summer. Sublette BOCES requests that everyone do their best to protect others in the classes.
A number of the classes are outside. Currently, BOCES is gearing up their Wind River Discovery Day Camp classes for middle school students on July 20-24. Jim Gray will be leading a field trip to Big Sandy to engage in some hands-on rock hounding on August 1st. Dr. Ron Worl will be leading a field class on the geology of Fremont Lake on the morning of Saturday, August 8th. Richard Burke is teaching a class on Plein Air (outside) Painting on Saturday August 22nd.
Sublette BOCES #1 has a few opportunities for adults that are indoors, but numbers will be limited so social distancing can be practiced. Jody Hamilton is teaching a pottery course for BOCES, and they are offering a ServSafe Food Handler Certification program that is available online.
Students can also enroll in Driver’s Education program and other opportunities for youth classes. Clare Rutar is teaching a STEAM class for elementary students (2 days) on July 21 and 22. There are also clay/pottery classes currently running for youth. If any of the courses sound interesting, be sure to sign-up early at subletteboces.com. Pandemic closures are a part of our new reality, but Sublette BOCES still offers enrichment classes in safe learning environments. Register online (subletteboces.com), or call 307-367-6873 with any questions.
