Sublette County School District No. 1 reports that a Pinedale High School student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student will be excluded from school through an isolation order from Public Health. Students who test positive will be allowed to return to school when the isolation order is lifted.

Families will be receiving an email from Public Health if their student had ANY POSSIBLE contact with the student. If you receive this email from Public Health please monitor your student and contact your medical provider if they have any symptoms. This does not mean that your student needs to quarantine. Anyone who needs to quarantine will be called on the phone directly by Public Health.

All areas of the building where this student was present will be thoroughly disinfected.

On Sunday, the district reported that a Pinedale Middle School teacher has also contracted the virus. PMS Principle Eric Makelky sent out a letter noting: "Families will be receiving an email from Public Health if their student had ANY POSSIBLE contact with that staff member on Friday, Sept. 4th. If you receive this email from Public Health please monitor your student and contact your medical provider if they have any symptoms. This does not mean that your student needs to quarantine. Anyone who needs to quarantine will be called on the phone directly by Public Health."

Public Health will issue letters to parents and guardians that students may have possibly been exposed to COVID-19. That letter will outline the next steps and contact information, but generally includes the following guidance:

What to do if your child was possibly exposed to COVID-19?
• Monitor your child for symptoms for at least 14 days after the last day he or she was possibly exposed to COVID-19. According to the Wyoming Department of Health and County Health/Public Health Nursing, the last day your child may have been exposed was ____.
• It is especially important during these 14 days that your child physically distance themselves from others and wear face coverings when physical distancing isn’t possible.

What to do if your child gets sick?
• If your child develops symptoms, even if the symptoms are mild, he or she may have COVID- 19. Your child should stay home except to get medical care. Do not send your child to school, and avoid public spaces, public activities, and group gatherings.
• Call your child’s healthcare provider to discuss your child’s symptoms and whether he or she needs to be tested. When contacting your healthcare provider, you should mention that you received this letter.
• Household members should also stay at home as much as possible.

If your child gets sick, when can he or she resume normal activities?

If your child is sick, he or she should stay home until:
• Fever has been gone for 24 hours without using a fever-reducing medication,
AND
• Symptoms have improved, AND
• At least ten days have passed since symptoms first began.
