Health Care Candidate Forum Oct. 6
October 5, 2020
There will be another Candidate Forum highlighting local health care boards on Tuesday, October 6th in Pinedale, sponsored by the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce and the Pinedale Roundup.
There will be two forums this evening. One will be for the Sublette County Special Hospital Board candidates. The second forum will be for the Sublette County Rural Health Care District Board.
Voters will find candidates for both boards on the November 3rd General Election ballot. Which board is actually seated depends on if voters pass the question on the Special Hospital District to give the go-ahead for building the Critical Access Hospital. If the Special Hospital District question fails, things will remain the same for the organizational structure of the Sublette County Rural Health Care District and operations for health care with the two medical clinics in the county. This means the financial woes for the Sublette County Rural Health Care District will continue as before because they are not reimbursed fully by Medicare for the health care services they provide. If the Special Hospital District question passes, local health care management will transition over to an entirely new management system under a completely new elected health care board. The management will bring the Sublette Center Assisted Living into the fold with a new building as part of the Critical Access Hospital to be built up on the hill behind the current Pinedale Medical Clinic. Management is envisioned to be some blend of a public-private partnership with one of the regional medical hospitals, which have already been approached for Requests for Proposals.
The forum will take place in the board room of the Sublette County School District #1 Administration Building in Pinedale, 655 N Tyler Ave. No public is requested at this venue. Forums will be available to view live on the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce Facebook page and YouTube channel. The forum can also be heard live on KPIN 101.1FM Radio. The recording will be available for later viewing.
