Helping families in need in Sublette County
by Sublette County Sheriff’s Office
December 16, 2020
Recently the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Division T (Sublette County) teamed up for the First Lady's Hunger Initiative. All the area schools were contacted in both Pinedale and Big Piney, from Preschools to High School, looking to identify families in need. In all, 48 local families were identified that would benefit from this program. Ridley's in Pinedale stepped up and took on the task of preparing 48 meal gift baskets and even went a step farther and contributed more food to each basket than what was purchased.
With help from the Sublette Sheriff's Office in both Pinedale and Big Piney, the Wyoming Highway Patrol was able to distribute meals for all 48 families in need for the holiday season. This is truly what Wyoming is about!
Throughout the entire process, it was very moving as multiple Sublette County residents stepped forward offering to contribute more to these local families in need. The chain reaction of giving that came from this shows how great Sublette County is about taking care of its residents.
A special thank you needs to go out to our Sublette County School Counselors, Principles, and Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers who take the time to really get to know our students and be able to identify those in need.
In addition to the First Lady’s Hunger Initiative, the Wyoming Highway Patrol Association (WHPA) generously donated a thousand dollars to Division T (Sublette County) to help those in need. After talking to multiple people within the county, the schools, and the Sublette Sheriff's Office, we were able to locate two hard-working families with children who were struggling during the holiday season. Division T was able to provide each of these families with five hundred dollars to make the holiday season a little easier.
