Pinedale Winter Carnival adds Snow Sculpture Contest to fun events

The 2021 Pinedale Winter Carnival will take place Friday and Saturday, February 13 & 14th. The event is sponsored by Main Street Pinedale. Events include the popular Skijoring and Cardboard Classic sled race, along with the ever popular Kids 120 cc SnoCross Race after Sunday's Skijoring races.
The Cardboard Classic races start February 13th, 2021 at the Burzlander Sledding Hill off of Fremont Lake Road from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Registration, sign-in, and payment from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the top of the Burzlander Sledding Hill. Participants must sign a waiver.
Skijoring events take place Friday and Saturday, February 13th & 14th, 2021 at the Bloomfield lots behind the Hampton Inn 10:00 am till finished each day. Registration is now closed! They are full up, but you can still get on the waiting list if you email the event organizers. There are over 120+ teams competing both Saturday and Sunday.
The Blizzard Bash (formerly called the Snow Ball) will, sadly, be cancelled this year due to indoor COVID-19 restrictions. Main Street Pinedale hopes to bring it back for next year’s Winter Carnival.
New this year is a Snow Sculpture Contest. There will only be four snow blocks available this year, so get your team together and register ASAP. Teams can have up to 8 members. Each team will be designated a 4x4x8 block on snow to sculpt. They snow blocks are located in downtown Pinedale, on the old Town Hall lot, 210 W. Pine. Each team member must sign and return a release waiver before sculpting begins. Team applications and waivers must be returned by email by Monday, February 8th.
The winning sculpture will be determined by the public in a Facebook poll, and announced at the Skijoring Event on Saturday, February 14th. The winning team will receive their choice of either a free booth at Rendezvous (valued at $200) OR $200 in cash.
The Snow Sculpture contest rules are simple:
1. Only hand/carving tools can be used – nothing with a motor. Examples include: garden shovels, small pointed shovels, trowels, saws, flat ice scrapers, buckets of water, picks, racks, and any other tool that you can think of that may be good for carving.
2. Food coloring is allowed and can be applied easily with paint brushes or spray bottles.
3. No armatures, sticks, fabric or any other materials are allowed on the snow sculptures.
4. Sculpting can take place anytime between Wednesday the 10th and 5 pm on Friday the 12th, at which time voting will begin and all sculptures must be complete.
Reception and Cornhole Tournament: The Skijorning Reception, Registration and Sign-In will be held on Friday, February 12th at Rendezvous Meadows Golf Course Club House in Pinedale from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm (or longer if needed). Come get your bags on at the first Winter Carnival "outdoor" Cornhole Tournament. This year’s tournament will be held on the patio of the Rendezvous Meadows Club House under a tent (with heaters of course) during the Skijor Reception, Registration & Sign-In. It's a party you don't want to miss!
