First spring leaves 2021

These green things are called leaves. Each spring we wonder if the plants around Pinedale will remember how to make them. While folks in milder climates have had spring for weeks now, we have to wait until the middle of May for things to warm up enough for the local vegetation to reawaken. The first green leaves on shrubs in Pinedale were spotted on May 8th. The first leaves on trees were spotted on May 14th in town. Daytime temps have been in the 40s-50s-60s around Pinedale over the last couple of weeks. Nighttime lows have been in the 30Fs and 40Fs. We’re starting to get into our summer weather pattern of clear blue calm skies in the morning, with clouds building by early afternoon bringing scattered thunderstorms and rain showers. The rain will make the grass green-up and help wildflowers to bloom.
