Obituary – Nancy Burstad

Nancy Beth Burstad passed away after a fierce and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family in the comfort of her home. She was born in Brainerd, Minnesota on May 14th, 1955 to Janet and Glenn Fossum. She grew up in Roseau, MN and graduated Magna Cum Lade from Bemidji State University with a degree in Elementary Education.
She married her high school sweetheart Gary Burstad in Roseau, MN in 1976. They moved to Rock Springs, WY in 1983. When she retired after 31 years of teaching 4th and 6th grade students they moved to Pinedale in 2015.
Gary and Nancy had many wonderful adventures all over the world together and were married for almost 45 years. She loved her grandchildren more than anything. Some of her favorite activities were fishing, camping, reading, crafting, and traveling. She had the perfect deck and hammock, where she watched animals pass under a beautiful view of the Wind River Range. She was the 16th woman to have her motorcycle license in Wyoming, and she enjoyed cruising around the state on her Harley. She is an inspiration to her daughters and they hope to be as kind and courageous as her.
She is survived by her husband Gary Burstad, daughters Sarah (Pat) Tenney, Suzie (Nick) Mahon, Emily (Jason) Ray, grandkids Isla, Ethan, Conrad, and John, mother Janet Fossum, brother Randy (Jewel) Fossum, Jean Marie (Lee) Fitzke, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Glenn Fossum.
At her request, no services will take place. Her family is spending time together and remembering every moment.
