A sexual assault was reported on social media on Friday night (August 13th) at the Lower Fremont Lake campsite by the boat ramp. A woman reported she was sleeping next to her car when she was raped. She does not have a description of the man, who got away and is still on the loose in the community. The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported to us on Monday they are still investigating this case. There have not been any media releases on this as of the time of this update Tuesday morning.
Pinedale Online advises citizens take precautions to make sure their valuables are secured, cars are kept locked, doors/windows to homes and businesses are locked, children are supervised, and females don’t put themselves in situations where they are alone and vulnerable. Please look out after each other and it is a good idea to do a buddy system and keep a watch on people’s whereabouts.
If anyone has more information about this incident or other recent unusual incidents in the community, please contact the SCSO. Please do report any suspicious activity right away to the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office by calling 911 for emergencies or 307-367-4378 for non-emergencies. Help and shelter for sexual assault and family violence victims is also available from the Sublette County Sexual Assault and Family Violence Task Force (SAFV), 24-Hour Crisis Hotline: 1-888-301-4435, local numbers 307-367-6305, 307-276-3975.
