by Sublette County Public Health
September 3, 2021
The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) reports that there have been 36 new COVID-19 cases in Sublette County in the past week. There are currently 22 active cases in Sublette County, with 918 recoveries and 11 deaths, for a total of 951 cases since the pandemic began. Individuals are quarantining/isolating in the communities of Big Piney, Boulder, Bondurant, Cora, Daniel, Marbleton, and Pinedale. Another death of a Sublette County resident was reported this week by the Wyoming Department of Health, raising our death total to 11. Public Health extends their condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
Three more individuals from Sublette County were transported to surrounding hospitals for care this week related to COVID. Several other residents remain hospitalized. Local clinic providers are reporting that it is "getting harder and harder to find a bed." Multiple phone calls are being made for placement of each patient needing hospital care. On a day-to-day basis, hospitals are on divert status or taking only the most critical patients.
Our live video update this week was very informative (maybe one of our best discussions yet)! Ryan Grove, PA joined us from the Pinedale Clinic to discuss the current COVID situation in Sublette County. We reviewed information for our most frequently asked questions and tried to dispel some myths. Please go to our Sublette County Public Health Facebook page to view the recorded version or link here:
Sublette County remains in the Orange/Moderate High for community spread this week, most of the state continues to be in the Red or High Transmission Zone, several counties have moved into the Dark Red/VERY High Transmission Zone. (source)
COVID and Schools Several Wyoming school districts have either returned to, or are considering returning to, virtual learning due to the high transmission rates in their communities. In order to keep our teachers, students and support staff as healthy as possible and schools open, our local districts ask that if your child is not feeling well, that you keep them at home. Please consider vaccinating your students ages 12+ years.
COVID-19 Vaccines As of August 30th--2,705 people have been fully vaccinated in Sublette County, which means that 27.79% of our population has been vaccinated. Vaccine clinics continue to see higher rates of visitation over the last month, around 80-90 individuals per week countywide.
Sublette County Public Health has begun administering an additional dose of vaccine to severely immunocompromised individuals under the new guidelines. See guidelines at this website or call Public Health for more information.
The ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) met this week to review vaccine information and discuss booster doses. The committee decided to continue to collect more information and revisit this discussion mid-September before making any further recommendations. More to come on this topic...
