‘Nocturne’ Art Exhibit at Mystery Print Gallery

David Klarén, owner of Mystery Print Gallery and Frame in Pinedale, has invited 20 artists to his fourth annual themed invitational exhibit. This year’s theme is "Nocturne". The past exhibits, "Animal/Shelter", "Animal/Totem", and "This Toy’s Story" were very successful and popular with gallery attendees.
"The word ‘Nocturne’ surfaced in the dark seas of the Covid-19 chaos," David said. "It struck me as a wonderful idea to build an exhibit around." He is especially interested in and encouraging artists to think "outside the box", i.e., exploring ideas or materials that are not part of their usual studio practice. This allows ample leeway to interpret the theme with work based in reality, fantasy, or mythology. The pieces may be serious, humorous, fun, funky, science fictional, intellectual, minimal, or environmental. He also feels that the theme lends itself to the exploration of an emotional, psychological, or metaphorical night.
Participating local artists are: Dan Abernathy, Cristy Anspach, Charmian McLellan, Mae Orm, and Sue Sommers. Others from across the region and beyond are Richard Burke, Matt Daly, Holland Dutton, Favian Hernandez, Jennifer Hoffman, Jun Ishida, Linda Ryan, Jocelyn Slack, Lisa Marie Smith, Connie Wieneke, Chris Wimberg, and Kathy Wipfler.
The show opens with a reception on Thursday, November 4, from 5:00 to 8:00PM at the Gallery, 221 S Sublette Ave in Pinedale. There will be a poetry reading that evening at 6:00 PM. It will be on display through the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and close on December 31. Artwork purchased as gifts may be picked up on December 23.
