The Wyoming Department of Health has updated their website to bring back data on COVID-19 breakthrough cases in Wyoming. "Breakthrough" means a person who is considered fully vaccinated (at least 14 days since their COVID-19 vaccine shot) who later tested positive for having COVID-19. By the end of December 2020 there were 534 deaths in Wyoming related to COVID-19. In 2021 as of November 19th, there have been an additional 813 deaths in the state, for a cumulative total of 1347. This is despite over 238,300 (41.18%) of the populated vaccinated and 109,300+ (19%) having had the disease and now presumably have some natural immunity. (The population of the state is around 575,000.) The death rate related to COVID-19 is .2%. No one under the age of 18 has died of COVID-19 in the state of Wyoming to date. After two years of the pandemic, the data shows that 97% of people in Wyoming who have had the disease have recovered from it.

The first chart is case rate per 100K by vaccination status, the second is deaths due to COVID-19 by vaccination status, and the third is hospitalized case rate per 100K by vaccination status. Note that the yellow shows only people who are considered fully vaccinated. Anyone who tested positive for the virus within the two weeks after vaccination are still considered unvaccinated and will show up in the blue shaded area. Data from the Wyoming Department of Health. 71.9% of Wyoming’s most vulnerable population age 65 and older have been vaccinated. 85% of COVID-19 related deaths in Wyoming have been in the 60-80+ age range.

Infections in vaccinated people shown in yellow, unvaccinated people in blue. People who develop the disease within the two weeks even after being vaccinated are put in the blue category and considered unvaccinated according to the Wyoming Department of Health.
COVID-19 hospitalizations in Wyoming This chart shows the status of Wyoming hospitals with COVID-19 patients from January 1, 2021 to November 18, 2021. As of Nov. 18, this is the lowest number of patients since August 22, 2021. There have been more hospitalizations this year than last, despite over 238,300 (41.18%) of the populated vaccinated and 109,300+ having had the disease and now presumably have some natural immunity. (The population of the state is around 575,000.) The high hospitalization count was 249 on October 22, 2021. The peak a year ago was 247 patients on November 30, 2020. 71.9% of Wyoming’s population age 65 and older have been vaccinated. 85% of COVID-19 related deaths in Wyoming have been in the 60-80+ age range.
