Road & Weather update 9:35AM Sunday, Dec. 26: WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES in effect for western Wyoming through tonight. Snow will continue through the weekend into Tuesday, then sunshine is in the forecast for around Pinedale. Strong winds of 45 to 50mph will significantly reduce visibility in places making travel difficult. NO UNNECESSARY TRAVEL advisories up from LaBarge on Hwy 189 to Interstate 80. I-80 closed in the western side of the state to the Utah border due to winter conditions. WY 28 over South Pass has Chain Law Level 1 in effect – black ice, slick with snowfall, strong winds with reduced visibility. Temperature will start to drop early in the week with daytime temps from the 20Fs to the single digits and nighttime temps to -11F on Monday night to -18F Tuesday night. Those working and recreating outside should be prepared for frigid temperatures and wind chills. Drivers should be prepared for winter driving conditions and carry winter clothing and emergency supplies (working flashlight, water, food, snow shovel, blankets) in their vehicles. Monitor road reports for current conditions. If you must travel, drive with caution and allow more time to reach your destination and be prepared for delays.
