Obituary – Joseph Kautza
July 11, 1971 - August 18, 2021
February 26, 2022
Local artist, son, father, husband, friend, and brother Joseph Kautza fell asleep in death this last summer at the age of 50 after battling an aggressive form of Lymphoma that surfaced, and progressed quite suddenly.
Joe and his family were residing in Ireland when he fell ill, and many were shocked and saddened by his sudden passing. He was a vibrant person who loved the arts, music, traveling and people.
Many in Pinedale may remember Joe as a fun-loving artist who used his talents to create beautiful sculptures around town. Some may also remember him as the man standing outside of the post office publicly preaching his faith that he held so dear.
Joe was survived by the love of his life, Wendy Kautza who he was married to for 19 1/2 years; His two beautiful and talented sons Kazan,16, and Kylo, 13, who miss him very much. Also survived by his sister Dawn Kautza, step-mother Susan and father Michael Kautza, 80, who was his best friend and fellow artist.
Something Joe held close to his heart was the hope that in the near future "No one would say I am sick". (Isaiah 33:24) He knew his sickness was a product of living in a world that was very flawed from the kind of life his God, Jehovah, wanted people to live. This faith and hope is what kept him going during his last days. This is also what keeps his friends and family filled with hope knowing that soon they will see Joe again in a world that is free from pain, death and suffering. (Revelation 21:3,4)
A Zoom memorial was held on September 25, 2021 and a beautiful memorial talk was given by Joe and Wendy’s dear friend, Rob Rodriguez. If you would like to give condolences to the family, you can write to:
