Nearly three years into the COVID-19 pandemic, here are how the numbers look for Wyoming and Sublette/Sweetwater/Teton counties as of October 18, 2022. The Wyoming Department of Health only updates their website data weekly now, on Tuesdays, and they have dropped reporting some data. In summary, for 2022, Wyoming has had 286 deaths and Sublette County has had 3 COVID-19 related deaths. The data below is from the Wyoming Department of Health website.

The 19-29 age group had the most confirmed cases in Wyoming, but less than 1% of deaths. The 70+/80+ age group had the fewest number of cases, but unfortunately, the most COVID-19 related deaths.

BREAKTHROUGH CASES IN VACCINATED PERSONS
The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) is no longer providing information on the number of breakthrough COVID-19 cases in the state. Instead, their website now jumps to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website for that link. The CDC breakthrough data page does not break down their case data by state. The last data we have from WDH for breakthrough cases was September 24, 2022 in which they reported 36,647 breakthrough cases in Wyoming and 210 deaths in vaccinated persons since January 1, 2021. The CDC admits that vaccinated people can get COVID-19 and transmit the virus to others. We have not seen any data on how many people, vaccinated or unvaccinated, have had COVID-19 more than once (twice or three times) in Wyoming.

VARIANT DATA
The Wyoming Department of Health is no longer providing testing data on COVID-19 variants in Wyoming. Their website instead links to the CDC website which does not give state-specific data, and lumps Wyoming in a six-state region. The September 24, 2022 Wyoming Department of Health data that was still being provided on their website indicated that in Sublette County, Delta variant was still 10x more prevalent in Wyoming than Omicron, according to sequencing data. The CDC data for the six state Region 8 for mid-July 2022 to October 22 indicates that 78% of cases in that region have been Omicron variants.
HOSPITALIZATIONS FOR COVID-19 IN WYOMING
Data as of October 19, 2022 reports there are currently 18 people in hospitals around the state of Wyoming due to COVID-19. There have been two peaks in hospitalizations in the past year in Wyoming. At the end of October 2021 there were 239 people in hospitals around the state for COVID-19 related illnesses. Hospitalizations dropped to 56 in January 2022, then spiked again to 167 in February 2022. From mid-March 2022 to the end of October 2022, hospitalizations have dropped dramatically and leveled out ranging from 4 to no higher than 43 on any given day across the state.
