James Logan (Jim) Berry, age 82, passed away at his home in Pinedale, Wyoming on April 25th, 2023. Jim was born May 22nd, 1940 in Los Angeles, California. His parents were James Lyle & Z. Helen Berry. The family lived in San Francisco, CA; Irving, Texas; and Lake County, CA.
Jim graduated from Upper Lake Union High School in Lakeport, CA. He attended and graduated from Shasta College in Redding, CA, then served in the US Marine Corps. He flew commercial airlines for Trans World Airlines and he retired from TWA as a Captain on the MD-80 in 2000. Jim married Connie Smith in 1979 and they had one son, Paul. Jim, Connie and Paul moved to Pinedale, Wyoming after residing 14 years in Reno, Nevada in 1993. Jim enjoyed flying his Aerobatic Pitts. While in Pinedale, he and his friend built and flew an RV8. Jim also served on the Pinedale Airport Board for 8 years.
Jim's most precious joys in life were his family, his friends, and his community, while enjoying his retirement at his mini-ranch home in Pinedale. The views from his porch brought him peace and joy as he sat looking at the Wind River Mountains with his friends and family and his beloved dogs, cats and horses.
Jim is survived by his wife Connie, sons Nick & Paul Berry, daughter Susan (Dana) Menne and nieces & nephews. Jim will be missed by all who knew him & he leaves a legacy of many memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fisher Foundation for disabled veterans, or Pinedale’s MESA Therapeutic Horse Ranch in his memory.
Graveside Services will be held at the Pinedale Cemetery Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10 a.m.
