High Water Warning for Pine Creek

(June 20, 2023, PINEDALE, WYOMING) - Sublette County Emergency Management has issued a high water warning for Pine Creek below Fremont Lake. Flows into the lake have drastically increased from a high of 611 cubic feet per second (cfs) on Tuesday 2:00pm to 2100 cfs at 7:00pm Tuesday evening. Flows on Pine Creek below Fremont Lake are expected to increase to 1300 cfs and continue up from there as more water comes from Upper Pine Creek and Titcomb Basin in the Wind River Mountains.
Please be cautious while recreating near Pine Creek below Fremont Lake and through Pinedale. Water flows can change very quickly. Fast water is very strong and can move a vehicle in one foot of flowing water.
For comparison, the Green River is currently running at 2190 cfs and Pine Creek is running at 2140 cfs. 2140 cfs equals just over 16,000 gallons per second, weighing 133,500 pounds each second.
