Memorial Service for Stella Taylor June 24, 2023 in Pinedale

Stella Louise Taylor, 76, passed away on June 8, 2023. Stella was born December 2, 1946 to Verner and Clara Cooley of Dayton, WY. Stella spent her childhood roaming the Big Horn mountains, fishing, camping, and enjoying the outdoors. She later moved to Recluse, WY to help friends who owned a small country store. There she met and married Gene Taylor at the age of 21. They resided on the family ranch homestead in Gillette, working side by side. Their family grew in 1969 when Holly was born and later Robin and Jackie.
A new journey began in 1976 when Gene and Stella purchased the Ball Place in Daniel, WY. She felt right at home being in the mountains again and spent endless hours fishing Horsecreek, working the ranch, and raising her family. Stella enjoyed entertaining the family and friends that frequented the ranch. She would take them fishing, hunting, and everyone’s favorite, a picnic where she would cook pork chops and steaks over an open fire. Everyone loved her meals after branding the calves each Spring, looking forward to her chocolate and coconut cream pies for dessert.
Along with working on the ranch, Stella loved to travel with her friends and went to Canada, Alaska, Australia, Mexico, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, and many other US states. In between travels she loved to sew, blessing most that she knew with a quilt, and going to craft fairs. Stella moved to Loveland, CO after Gene passed away and remained there until December 2021 when she moved to Gillette to be close to her brother Ray Cooley.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Taylor; daughter Holly Taylor; and brothers Larry, Ronny and Wendall Cooley. She is survived by her son Robin Taylor, daughter Jacqueline Overdorff (Brandon) and grandchildren Trent and Torry Taylor (Robin) and Brecken, Daltyn, and Stockton Overdorff (Jacqueline). She has one great grandchild Oakley Rayne Taylor (Trent). Siblings Ray Cooley (Sindy), Mike Cooley and Joe Cooley. Sister-in-law Arrilla Ford (Wayne) and many nieces and nephews. Stella was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sibling. Everyone that knew Stella admired how fun, hard working, and giving she was.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held in honor of Stella on June 24, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pinedale Bible Church in Pinedale, WY.
