Winter Closures in effect until May 1
Protection for wildlife
April 28, 2006

Wildlife officials remind the public that winter wildlife closures are in effect until Monday, May 1, 2006.

Designated winter closure areas are essential to the survival of wildlife to get through harsh winters and conserve energy for reproduction.

Outdoor recreationists are asked to respect wildlife winter range closures and give animals the space they need to survive. In addition, you can greatly reduce your impact by not traveling on wet roads or trails.

Free travel maps are available at Forest Service and BLM offices. When planning a trip on public land in the county, these maps are essential to ensure you know where the closures are and can do your part to care for our valuable public lands.

Barriers will be in place on roads where any motorized use past that point will result in resource damage. Any vehicle operation past posted barriers, including ATV's, is considered a violation, as well as any vehicle found to be off forest roads doing damage to vegetation or soils. All users that Off-Highway Vehicles, including motorcycles and ATV's, are reminded that they are required to have a valid Wyoming Registration sticker, and that any hay brought on federal lands must be provable "weed-free" certified.
