Big Piney Chuckwagon Days
July 1, 2006

The Lil’ Buckaroo Rodeo was held on Saturday, July 1st, kicking off the annual Fourth of July Chuckwagon Days celebration in Big Piney and Marbleton.

The Lil’ Buckaroo Rodeo is for all kids ages 13 and under. Events included Stick Horse Barrel Racing (like regular barrels, only in miniature!), Mutton Bustin’ (riding a sheep), Goat Tail Tying (tying a pink ribbon on a goat’s tail), Calf Roping, Calf Riding, Bronc Riding and Mini Bull Riding.

Each of the winners got buckles and every contestant got a Lil’ Buckaroo t-shirt. Most of the events had between 10-25 participants, including locals and some coming from as far away as Texas, Louisiana and Seattle, Washington.

The Lil' Buckaroo Rodeo was sponsored entirely by EnCana Oil and Gas (USA). Stock contractor was Cameron Tuckett, CT Rodeo & Livestock. Scooter "the Rodeo Clown" Culbertson announced. The Sublette County EMTs were on hand and helped out several times to check out rodeo contestants who took especially hard falls or got banged up a bit.

Editor's Note: Be sure to click on the little pictures to jump to the bigger versions of the same photos! The expressions on some of these kid’s faces are absolutely priceless and you’ll miss it if you just look at the little thumbnail versions.

We’ve made ever attempt to correctly identify all the participants in the rodeo, but if we misspelled anyone’s name or misidentified anyone, please send us a note to let us know so we can correct our captions (support@pinedaleonline.com). There were some last-minute entries that we didn’t have names for, so we weren’t sure on some of these kids.

Parents and friends, feel free to right-click and save these larger version photos to save to your hard drive so you can e-mail to your family and share with others.
