Mistake Lake

Mistake Lake in Titcomb Basin This photo was taken by Jeff Madden, sent in by his friend PJ Quealy.

Jeff and PJ came up to Pinedale at the end of June to go hiking. They intended to go on a round trip hike from Elkhart Park, summit Fremont Peak, and then back again in one day. They were slowed by the mud and snow around Island Lake. They then attempted their scramble from Mistake Lake instead of Indian Pass. With storm clouds threatening, they decided to turn around at 11,500 feet.

This trip was 31 miles and 11 hours. PJ grew up in the area, but now lives in California. Jeff lives in Macon, Georgia. They will try again next year.
