Editor's Note: This fire is southwest of Kemmerer, in Lincoln County, south of us here in Pinedale. It is somewhat out of our area, but might impact some of you oil & gas folks working in the southern Wyoming Range-LaBarge areas, so here's a heads up on the status.

Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Lincoln County, and U.S. Forest Service firefighters continue to battle the Sheep Trail Fire located south of Cokeville.

As of 2 p.m., Monday, July 16, the BLM reports the fire to be approximately 1700 acres. The fire is considered 30 percent contained. A Type III helicopter, two hand crews, a water tender from Cokeville Volunteer Fire Department and five fire engines are on the scene. Approximately 80 firefighters are available to handle the Sheep Trail Fire.

Lighting is believed to be the cause of the Sheep Trail Fire which began Sunday afternoon. The fire is located at Township 23 North, Range119 West -- south of Cokeville and east of U.S. Highway 30. The fuel type remains as Type II – sage brush and grass. There are no structures threatened by the fire.
