December 25, 2008

A strong Christmas Day storm brought frequent snowfall amounts of one to two feet to western Wyoming as of 700 pm MST Christmas evening. The heaviest amounts fell in Teton County where a maximum of nearly two and one-half feet of snow has fallen. The heavy snow has fallen on an unstable snowpack which has increased the avalanche danger in western Wyoming. Avalanche warnings have been posted for the Teton, Snake River, Salt River, Wyoming and west slope of the Wind River Ranges.
