Sublette County Library’s holiday vision goes global

As holiday preparation begins, the Sublette County Library is inviting the community to drop off gift quality books, cds and dvds from Monday, Nov. 23rd through Friday, Dec. 4th at the front desk of the Sublette County Library at 155 S. Tyler Ave. for their "Books for a Better World Book Sale" to be held December 12 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and during the Children’s Christmas Party from 6 – 8 p.m. Complimentary gift wrapping will be available. All proceeds from this special holiday book sale will be donated to the Kirkuk Central Library in Iraq through Better World Books Organization.
Better World Books raises money for literacy initiatives worldwide, and at this time they are the only agency delivering books to Iraq.
The Sublette County Library discovered Kirkuk is currently home to a US Air Force base and Army logistical hub involved in security and reconstruction around the region.
While much of Iraq is rebuilding its cultural heritage lost during years of political and ethnic unrest, many libraries such as the Kirkuk Central Library in northern Iraq are rebuilding their collection from the ground up.
