John Linn plans write-in campaign for Sublette County Commissioner race
by John Linn press release
September 19, 2012

A committee has been formed to initiate a write-in campaign to elect John Linn for County Commissioner. After much urging from county residents and the narrow vote difference the decision was made to try the write in campaign. The challenge will be to get voters to fill in the oval and write in John Linn under county commissioner.

Issues that keep compelling me to run are-

1. Outside influence trying to shape the way we live in Sublette County.
For example, the attack toward grazing of Federal lands, the constant pressure to close roads and managment of those lands toward locking them up using special designations such as Wilderness, wildlands, and possible listing of the sage grouse. I will use my experience and contacts developed by being deeply involved in all federal land issues since 2004. I think this is incredibly important to Sublette County's future and economy in regard to our use of Federal and State lands and resource protection.

2. The Sublette Center project. I really want to see this through and I believe my plan to use County saved funds to build the senior housing projects, rebuild the Sublette Center and then go to the voter for a SPET tax to establish an endowment fund dedicated to operation and maintenence is the right way to address this complicated endevour. This scenario is in place by the current commission but it has been suggested that the SPET tax could be used to pay the county back for the entire cost of the facilities and the endowment fund. I am sure that a tax initiative that large will fail and the retirement home might not get replaced causing the Sublette Center to closed due to unresolvable problems with the structure. I think it is wrong to ask the citizens to tax themselves more while we have as much money in savings as we do.
There are other issues and I will talk to the citizens about those issues through the next weeks to assure them I'm the best suited to take Sublette County through the next 4 years.
