Red Flag Warning
Size: 1,500 acres
Percent Contained: 15%
Resources: 3 Helicopters; 8 Engines; 2 Crews; 1 Dozer
Total Personnel: 112

The Little Horsethief Fire grew to the north and east during the last 24 hours. It has burned to the ridge above Cache Creek, prompting local emergency services to issue an evacuation advisory for portions of east Jackson. At this time, the evacuations are precautionary and voluntary. Residents should be prepared to leave their homes should fire behavior increase. Those who live in east Jackson should expect to see fire engines in the area providing notifications and information. The Nixle notification system is being used to send out updates every two hours, and fire engines and other personnel will also be in the area to provide information and spread word of the advisory. Residents can sign up for these notifications at www.nixle.com.

All highways into Jackson Hole are currently open as are local businesses. An area closure remains in effect that includes Cache Creek and Snow King Mountain.

A Great Basin Type 2 Incident Command Team assumed control of the Little Horsethief Fire at 0600 this morning. The Team will continue to operate jointly with the partners of Teton Interagency Fire. Additional resources have been ordered to join in the fire suppression actions.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for today due to forecasted high winds and heavy lightning. Light rain has occurred off and on over the fire area this morning. However, the fire is located on the fringe of the cold front, so wide-spread accumulation is not predicted at this time.

A community meeting is scheduled for tonight at the Davy Jackson Elementary School at 7 PM this evening. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions. An information center is currently being established and details on its location will be provided soon.
