A Rough-legged Hawk takes off from a fence post. These raptors breed in the far north and will migrate into Sublette County for the winter while most of our Red-tails and Swainson's Hawks will migrate farther south. These birds are often seen hunting rodents from fence posts and telephone poles. We typically count a number of these raptors on the annual Christmas Bird Count which will be December 30, 2018.
