Skyline Theatre Hootenany March 30
At JM Horns, Lakeside Lodge
by Pinedale Online!
March 29, 2019

Everyone is invited to a Hootenany to benefit the Skyline Theatre Project at 6:00PM at JM Horns Restaurant at Lakeside Lodge on Saturday, March 30th. There will be live music by Jason Tyler Burton. (Update: Special thanks also to musicians Talli Manning, Terry Hill, Tim Marcum, Casey Manning, Arlee Anderson, Michelle Humber for generously sharing their musical talents during the Hootenany.) Cocktail food and punch provided. Cash bar. The event is sponsored by JM Horns to support the efforts to fundraise to purchase the historic Skyline Theatre building in Pinedale.

The project is trying to raise $160,000 to purchase the historic old theater building and an additional $10,000 for administration for grant writing for the renovation phase. The money needs to be raised by mid-June.

The Town of Pinedale has agreed to look into researching forming a joint powers board with the Town of Marbleton and their movie theater. As a joint-powers board they could expand the revenue potential for the Marbleton theater.

The Pinedale community theater would have the added benefit of having a stage that could be used for live theater performances, small stage productions, guest speakers, conferences, recitals, dance performances, live music, and possibly even a recording studio. The building would be able to seat between 200-300 people, depending on how the seating would be placed inside. Organizers would like to have the first few rows in front of the stage be moveable in order to clear open space for dinner theaters, parties, an orchestra, or dancing. The movie screen could also be used to show "oldies but goodies" movie nights, sporting events on the large screen, live gaming pay for view shows, private movie screenings.

Several of the original historic elements are still with the theater, including movie projectors and film reels, the silhouettes that were along the walls, and the old popcorn machine. The restoration would do as much as possible to preserve the historic integrity of the original building. The Sublette County Historic Preservation Board has agreed to pursue getting the building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is located in Pinedale’s designated Historic District on north Franklin Avenue.

The biggest need at present is to raise the funds to purchase and secure the building. Presently about $17,000 has been raised towards the project.
