August 2, 2019 – Barb and Dave Harper
The Sage and Snow Garden Club is proud to award the Garden of Beauty Award to two amazing and knowledgeable gardeners-Barb and Dave Harper at 41 West North Street in Pinedale. Their spacious yard is filled with flowers, shrubs, trees, berries, and vegetables. They successfully grow raspberries, Nanking cherries, gooseberries, currants, lilacs, pioneer roses, cotoneaster, potentilla, roses, and crabapples. Flowers are tucked into every corner, such as, dianthus, lupine, columbine, lilies, sweet peas, and shade-loving pansies and hostas. Broccoli, leeks, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, peas, tomatoes, crookneck squash, green beans, and asparagus are grown in the sunniest spots in the yard. The Harpers like to experiment with new species that might thrive in our short growing season and alkaline soil, such as Romeo cherries and blueberries. These adventurous gardeners are truly an inspiration to those who want to garden in our short growing season.

July 26, 2019 – Kathy Sandmeier
Kathy Sandmeier and Matt Harber are the proud recipients of the Sage and Snow Garden of Beauty Award. Their greenhouse and outdoor gardens are located at 163 Grable Lane near Boulder. The greenhouse is constructed out of iron I-beams salvaged from an underground mine tunnel—an innovative example of what Sublette County gardeners do best—salvage and reuse materials to grow vegetables and flowers. Inside the greenhouse, there are tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos, zucchini, bush beans, peas, salad greens, cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, beets, carrots, and sunflowers (to attract bees)--all grown in raised beds and ranch lick tubs and watered with an extensive drip irrigation system on timers. The outdoor gardens are a series of large round re-purposed stock tanks filled with potatoes, spinach, radishes, kale, chard, onions, and beans—all watered with drip irrigation, as well. Kathy amends her native soil each year with compost. She is a very knowledgeable gardener.
