Road and Weather update for western Wyoming, Monday, February 3, 8:20AM: 6-8 inches new snow overnight in Pinedale area, more in other areas, and more expected through the day. Blizzard conditions in outlying areas. NO UNNECESSARY TRAVEL advisories posted for many roads including between Daniel and Hoback Junction on US 191. Sections of Interstate 80 in Wyoming Closed or posted No Unnecessary Travel. Gusty winds limiting visibility to creating whiteout conditions in places. Travel in rural areas difficult to impossible. Schools in Pinedale will be open and ok if kids arrive a little late with parents having difficulty dealing with the road conditions. School buses are running, but may be a little late. Bondurant school bus route cancelled, but school still in session. The SCSD#1 transportation department communicating directly with stops that may be late. Wind chill values from -5F to -40F in places. Carry emergency supplies and a working cell phone. If stranded in your car, do not leave your vehicle. Dangerous avalanche conditions exist in the mountain backcountry. Slides have already impacted Hoback Canyon this morning. Monitor www.wyoroad.info for current road condition reports.

SPECIAL NOTICE FROM WHITE PINE SKI AREA: Monday, February 3, 2020, 6:45AM: For the safety of our customers, White Pine Ski Resort is closed today due to high winds and whiteout visibility conditions. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Upper Green River Basin Foothills from Sunday evening, February 2nd through late Monday night, February 3rd. Heavy snow, 5 to 10 inches accumulation possible. A cold front will move into northern Wyoming Sunday morning. It will drop southward to the Continental Divide around sunset Sunday and southwest Wyoming Sunday night. The precipitation is expected to occur behind the cold front. The heaviest snowfall is predicted to occur Sunday night into Monday. Daytime highs for Pinedale will be 30F on Sunday, 13F on Monday, and 9F on Tuesday. Nighttime lows will be 8F on Sunday, -11F on Monday, and -8F on Tuesday. For current road conditions, go to www.wyoroad.info.
