Applications for the 2020 Wyoming Boys’ State session, June 14-20, 2020, at the University of Wyoming's College of Business in Laramie, are now being accepted online at http://www.wyoboysstate.org/apply/delegate.

Boys’ State, the nation’s premier program to develop tomorrow’s leaders, is sponsored by The American Legion and is offered to boys who have completed their junior year and have at least one remaining semester in high school. Applicants must be of good character and have an interest in government.

Delegates will compete for a variety of scholarships and may earn college credits for completion of the program. Two Wyoming delegates will have the opportunity to attend the Boys’ Nation program, in Washington, D.C.

The cost of attendance at Wyoming Boys' State is $300 and may be sponsored by local American Legion Posts of private sponsors. In Pinedale, Post 47, has funds available for sponsorship.

Applications must be completed online and submitted to the high school student guidance office or local American Legion Post by March 15.

Wyoming Boys’ State, held annually in June, is a chance for high school juniors from across the state to participate in a week’s worth of activities to gain knowledge of their state and its governmental structure. Delegates learn first-hand how government works, experiencing what it takes to create and enact laws. The week emphasizes leadership, civic engagement and patriotism.

Speakers include Governor Mark Gordon, United States Senators Mike Enzi and John Barasso, and Congresswoman Liz Cheney. In the process of working together, the delegates develop life-long friendships.

The week culminates with a visit to the State Capitol in Cheyenne, where Delegates occupy the House and Senate Chambers, as well as the various offices and agencies of Wyoming’s government. Delegates have the opportunity to meet the governor and many of his staff members in this full day of activities.

We encourage all eligible participants to apply. We can arrange for transportation to and from Laramie from Pinedale as well. For more local information, Contact: Michael Edison, Pinedale Post 47, American Legion. Cell number: (307) 360-9555.
