COVID-19 response

Sewing volunteers in Pinedale have provided over two-hundred masks for the community, also in Marbleton and Big Piney seamstresses have pushed out around five-hundred. This is a lot of work in a short time. As things evolve, so has the need and the process. Here is what we know today: From the CDC - there is some evidence of asymptomatic people spreading the virus, so use of masks for all is not a mandate, but a recommendation.

The masks that have been made with elastic contain latex and the clinics are latex free due to potential severe allergic reactions. The design has now been modified and new masks for the clinics will utilize material from cut up tourniquets. The old-style masks can be shared with the public for individuals who are not allergic to the latex. As soon as a quantity is available a distribution will be scheduled and announced.

Sewers are needed for both masks and gowns. Anyone interested in participating can email Cindy Van at corackvan@gmail.com, or check the Southwest Sublette County Pioneers Senior Citizen Center Facebook page and they will provide you with a pattern and instructions. Pre-cut fabric kits will be provided for the gowns. Most people are using remnant fabric for the masks. There is a need for plastic coated (Not paper) twist ties. If you have access to a quantity of them, please email sublettecovidevolunteers@gmail.com or call the Helpline at 307-209-4037 and we’ll arrange to pick them up.

Thank you to all who are helping our Sublette County community!
