The Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale, Wyoming will be opening for the season on Friday, May 15th, after a two-week delay due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Everyone is invited to come see the new displays upstairs on mountain men featuring new mannequins with new clothing, and the newly redone display on Women of the Fur Trade. Downstairs, the Museum has a new display with items from early Sublette County.

The gift shop has a new feature display case in the front center showcasing fur trade related books and a beautiful large bronze entitled, "In the Wake of the Mountain Man," donated by Hort and Julie Spitzer.

Due to COVID-19, the Museum will be following all health regulations. While visitors are not required to wear face masks, it is strongly encouraged along with social distancing. Special masks made by women from the local PEO chapter are available for purchase. Increased sanitation measures are in place for the cleaning routines. Hand sanitizer is available for use in the gift shop. All touch items in the Museum have been removed at this time.

Unfortunately, the annual 3-day Living History Days event has been cancelled. This usually occurs mid-May for nearly 1000 school children from across western Wyoming to come to the Museum to see living history demonstrations with the American Mountain Men. The members of the AMM and friends have spent the past several weeks making videos of their talks and demonstrations. These videos are being made available to schools for online viewing by students.

The upcoming annual Green River Rendezvous in mid-July is still on schedule, with state and county health restrictions in place. The Green River Rendezvous is scheduled for Thursday through Sunday, July 9-12 with a full slate of programs. The Western Art & Wine Auction is scheduled for Thursday, July 9th. Schedule changes will be announced as the event comes closer. See MMMuseum.com/rendezvous for current schedule and updates.

Lodging typically becomes tight during Rendezvous, so visitors are encouraged to make their lodging reservations well in advance if they plan to come visit. See www.visitpinedale.org for visitor and lodging information

Summer hours are 9AM to 5PM, open daily through October. Admission is $10 for ages 13 to adult, $8 for age 60 and over, children ages 12 and under are free. Call in advance to schedule special group tours, 307-367-4101.
