Texas Governor Gregg Abbott issued an Executive Order on Tuesday, March 2nd to rescind their state-wide mask order, increasing capacity, and allowing businesses to open 100%. He said that COVID-19 has not disappeared, but recoveries, vaccinations, reduced hospitalizations, and safe practices that Texans are using have made it that state mandates are no longer needed. Businesses can still limit capacity and implement safety measures at their own discretion. Click on this link for his media release on his Twitter feed.

Texas is not the first state to end a statewide requirement for people to wear masks in public. Fifteen other states either lifted their mask mandate or never adopted one in the first place, according to AARP:
